Tonight while watching an episode of Good Eats (Alton is da bomb!), BooBoo and Pemberton came barreling through the den and ended up playing the “wave the claws and hiss at one another” game over in the corner by the TV. Well, after a few hisses scary enough to shoo Pembie away, BooBoo made a break for it and headed for the top of the couch, via the side of said couch. Well, she couldn’t quite manage to haul her elderly butt up there, and before you knew it she had her back feet firmly planted on the carpet, but with her front legs stretched waaaay up and her claws stuck to the side of the couch. Imagine a policeman telling someone to put their hands up - that’s exactly what she looked like. It was one of the funniest sights I’ve seen!!
She managed to get herself unstuck before I could get the camera out, so alas… no picture to prove it.

Wow. Has it really been over a month since I’ve posted? That’s so wrong. Well, we have been way way busy recently. Vacation, a teenager’s first job, and some yummy cooking has been going on in the Lollis home. Stick around and I’ll let you know what all we’ve been up to. I promise. :)

I made a few general observations this morning and thought I’d share them.
- One of the cats magically pooped in the laundry room sometime last night.
- Trash pickup people are quite possibly the most reliable, under appreciated service providers.
- We have neither milk nor sugar in the house. (Scratch that. I found both after consuming my second cup of coffee. Please don’t ask.)
- It’s 9:00 a.m. I have been working from home for two hours, and yet my lazy child is still in the bed.
- Samantha Brown has the coolest job in the whole wide world.

You know it’s time to wash clothes when the pile is nearly as tall as you:

Please remember the lives those who gave the greatest sacrifice so that we can enjoy all the privileges with which we have been blessed. Don’t forget to pray for the safety of the men and women bravely serving our country today, both at home and abroad.
You can touch the life of an individual serviceman or woman at USO Cares (the USO meets the Better Business Bureau’s standards for charity accountability).
I hope you and yours have a blessed Memorial Day.

I can’t tell you how happy I was this morning when the UPS dude showed up today: he brought us our new TiVo. Yup, we bought ourselves a gadget for our anniversary. (Can you believe it will be three years on Tuesday?? No, me either.) Anyway, I had a ball getting it set up and running - didn’t take long at all. I hooked it up to our home network and had some time thinking up a name to call it (I’ve named all the things on our network). I decided to follow the current theme I have going on and called it Bingley. My computer is Lizzie, Michael’s is Darcy, and the boys’ is Meryton. Can you guess the theme here?
Anyway, we have already set the thing to record our favorite shows: Cities of the Underworld for Matthew, some Cartoon Network stuff for Nathan, Stargate SG-1 for Michael, and (of course) various and sundry Food Network shows for me.
Oh, and we also went to Anderson today to catch a movie - the new Pirates of the Caribbean. It was pretty good, and although it’s nearly three hours long, it sure didn’t feel like it. Even so, I liked the first two better.

Until I came across Diner Girl’s site. Wow. I didn’t know normal people (i.e. people who aren’t professional chefs) could cook like that.
I so want this book now. I’m inspired. I know that unlike a certain Food Network chef (heheh), I (a) know how to handle a knife and (b) prefer fresh, organic foods, so I think I have a chance. Too bad I live in Hicksville and have limited ingredient procurement options - Publix is about the best I have to work with.
Tomorrow (ok, technically later today) is my weekly all-day Cooking-Show-O-Rama-Fest, which means I get to spend a ridiculous amount of time watching the Food Network, planning my menu for the upcoming week, and then going grocery shopping. Oh, what fun. No, seriously!
:)

OK, so today on the way back from Publix, we began to have a lively conversation on interesting euphamisms for “somebody’s weird.” As in, “she’s two fields shy of an SQL statement.” (Sorry ’bout that. If there’s one thing worse than geek humor, it’s *bad* geek humor…) Anyway, we went back & forth for a little while, but when he came up with “He’s one dilithium crystal short of warp drive,” I knew he had me beat.
Sigh. Well, there’s always the next contest…
