So I’m horrible at keeping up a blog…
Mar 3rd, 2007 by Beth
Ok y’all. I haven’t blogged in a while because I got sick of Blogger and its dearth of cool features. So, I heard some really great things about Wordpress and checked it out - and WOW what a difference. I guess you noticed the really cool new look for the site - that’s part of the Wordpress difference. Anyway, it’s taken me a little while to get used to all the different things (it’s SO much richer in features than Blogger). Bear with me as I try to get everything situated just right. In the meantime, I am finally entering an update on the goings-on in the mind and family of this geeky mom. Here is a quick rundown:
Did you know that the Cartoon Network is advertising a new Barbie dog named Tanner? You push on his tail and plastic doggie poop comes out. I kid you not. Wanna know what’s scarier than that? I’m actually thinking of getting one to add to my “weird out my co-workers” toy collection - I already have a growing assortment of unusual pens (nothing compares to attending a meeting in the board room armed with your leather portfolio and a blue feathered flamingo-looking pen) and a talking interactive Yoda (note to Heather K. ~ did you know that Yoda is going for over $50 on eBay??!!) with a sombrero souvenier thingie from Mexico on his head.
I am still into the Martha Stewart brand of housekeeping. Problem is, the rest of the household (human and feline) are not. So, I am taking a stand on principle and am refusing to pick up after anyone. The result? Let’s just say I will need about three days’ notice before any guests ‘drop in’ for a visit.
On to Matthew. He’s really enjoyed ROTC at school, and his Sgt Maj has been encouraging him to join the Drill Team since the first semester. Matthew has hemmed and hawed and found excuse after excuse not to go. Then, the Drill Team goes to a competition in Clemson and wins a bunch of awards. Wanna know who joined the Drill Team last week? Yup, you guessed it.
Nathan is all about the band, and is even talking about giving up fooball to be a band nerd. Which is cool, ’cause there’s really no way that you can break a bone on the football field when you’re marching around in an itchy hot uniform with a trumpet in your hands. He still wants to be involved in sports - wrestling in particular, thanks to his buddy Devin - but just not football. He used to wrestle a little bit when he was smaller (he was the state champion in his weight class when he was in 2nd grade!) so it should be somewhat familiar to him. Dude is still being all Mr. Genious when it comes to math - doing long division IN HIS HEAD… CORRECTLY! He sure didn’t get that from me.
Mr. Photography is busy lamenting the fact that there were no Wren sports to cover this week. He was planning on shooting the Wren-Eastside soccer game, but that horrible storm came through the area that day and rained it out. On the bright side, he took me out to dinner tonight and we went shopping afterward at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Chickie here has herself an awesome new Anolon 5 1/2 qt covered saucier - you know I can’t wait to start cooking in it tomorrow! - plus a griddle/grill pan combo.
And finally… we have all been sucked into an American Idol addiction this season - yes, Michael included. Can you believe it? This from the dude who won’t watch The Sound of Music with me because they (gasp!) sing in the movie. We are, of course, rooting for Chris Sligh, but I really really really like Melinda too.
So there ya go. Now y’all quit nagging me about updating this thing - at least for a week or so. ;o)
