Throwing it all together.
Oct 16th, 2006 by Beth
I am really getting tired of not having a stove. There’s only so much you can do with a crockpot and oven, and tonight while cooking on the single burner on the grill I was getting chilly. Yup, it’s definitely autumn. Tonight I thought I’d throw together some beef stew… I had some beef that I chopped up, rolled in seasoned flour and browned, then sauteed some onions & carrots, added a quart of chicken broth (I must have used up all the beef broth, darn it!) and a bag of frozen mixed veggies and we were off to the races. It was all that three-quart cast iron pot could handle!
It doesn’t look nearly as good in the picture as it did in person. I promise, though, it was looking, smelling, and tasting good! A little bit of pepper and a dash of thyme seasoned it to perfection. Pair that homemade beef stew with hot buttered biscuits, YUM!
Mmmm, lots of leftovers. I love that.

Okay Beth, I was ROFL on your stove situation! I’ve NEVER seen OR used a stove that old! Girl, time to do some upgrades around that house… :0)
How are the boys? Time for a post on the kids to catch us up!
Love, Lori
