So I had an overdose on football today…

We started the day by watching the nearby Byrnes High School football team play on national television. Although we really don’t have any kind of connection to the school, other than living in the same general region of SC, it was exciting to see the team get that kind of national attention. They are ranked #2 in the nation, after all. They pulled out the win against the #5 team in the country, from south Florida. Byrnes QB Willie Korn is going to Clemson (gak). All I can say is, I hope he throws as many interceptions when he plays the Gamecocks as he did today.
After that, we headed to Anderson to the movies. Michael was as excited as a six-year-old on Christmas eve. Yes, folks, we went to see Invincible, the story of the 30-year-old part-time bartender who makes the Philadelphia Eagles team in the mid-70’s. Now you may or may not know that Michael is a huge, I mean HUGE, Eagles fan. They are second only to his (and my!) beloved Gamecocks.
Anyway, back to the movie. I have to admit that I really enjoyed the movie. It’s a great story, although the acting isn’t really as great as it should have been. Greg Kinnear played the role of coach Dick Vermeil. I’m sorry, but every time I see that actor, I always think of the scene in the movie Sabrina (with Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford) where Greg sits on a pair of champagne glasses and gets crystal shards embedded in his backside.
Well, we get home and what do we watch on TV? Yup. More football. The Bucs are beating the Jaguars as we speak. You’d think he’d be tired of football by now, but no…..
Maybe I’ll get my husband back in January.
